System 7.1.2, released on March 14, 1994, was the first version of the Macintosh system software for Power Macintosh computers; this accompanied the first-generation Power Macs (Power Mac 6100, 7100 and 8100).

Despite this being the fact, the whole system was not fully or substantially rewritten to be more "Power Mac-native" or contain more "native" code to warrant much of a speed boost. As a matter of fact, a mere 10% - 15% of the system became native, but those that did were the parts used most frequently, according to Apple.

Most significantly, the Memory control panel was revised. The Modern Memory Manager made its debut, and turning on virtual memory now lowers Get Info memory sizes on native applications.
