1993 Macintosh System 7.1

1993 Macintosh System 7.1.1 (Pro) "Jirocho"

System 7.1.1, code named "Jirocho" and marketed as System 7 Pro, was released by Apple Computer on October 4, 1993.

For a short time after its release, people were concerned about the "Pro" factor; namely, if, alongside the Performa systems, the "Pro" systems were to be another parallel release of the Macintosh system software. This never really happened.

System 7 Pro weighed in at US$150 — one of the most expensive updates to the Macintosh system software ever.

Software Components[]

System 7 Pro consists of the following updated software:

Notes[]

The System file and Finder updates only provide compatibility with the new features; they themselves contain nothing new. System 7 Pro will not run on a Mac Plus without first installing System Update 3.0, due to a problem with compressed resources (see Technical Note OS05).
