The iPod mini (1G) was announced on January 6, 2004, and released on February 20 of the same year. It was the predecessor of the iPod nano. It had a storage capacity of 4 gigabytes (roughly 1,000 4-minute or 4 megabyte songs), and was available for $246 USD.
