An Easy Install is a direct operation on installers where the recommended parts of the software (either Mac OS or an application programme) are installed. Any extras, though, may not be installed.

For example: Mac OS 9.1 installs the system software, applications, and language kits as part of the Easy Install, but a networking utility is not part of the Easy Install.

The opposite of an Easy Install, that is, one where the user can select and deselect individual items that the installer offers them, is called a Custom Install.
