Button View was introduced into the Macintosh Finder beginning in Mac OS 9. For users of At Ease and the Launcher, however, Button View is considered on very familiar territory.

Button View was designed for novices and gives the Finder a more user-friendly look. One click on the embossed big button open the icon. Yet, it can also be dealt with as a normal Finder icon: click once on the name to change it, and click and drag on the name to move it. And it can also be selected in a normal marquee selection.

When an icon is selected, the icon and the name appears dark or inverted.

Button View is no longer present in Mac OS X.
